Today, is one of the few snow days, Boston has recieved this winter. I think it’s a sign. Snow is metaphoric, it means a lot of things (all good), and is used frequently in literature. Snow is the beginning of something new. Snow is innocence.
Today, the snow came down hard, its was beautiful, and it marked the beginning of something new for me, and dancing around in Sam’s dorm room, to his vinyl versions (yes he has this song on two different mixes on two different 12” and the 7’…dedication), I think today, may have been the start of something new for him as well.
Anyways, New Order brought Sam and I together: the beginning of something new.
This track; however, reminds me of snow. It feels beautiful, it sounds even better, and while i was jumping up and down, I felt, for a split second, like I was five again.
“I’ve never met anyone quite like you before”
blondie and bowie:
why the fuck didn’t debbie get a ring on her finger? could you imagine what a super couple that would of been? fuck bennifer and brangelina, its all about the “barry” (harry and bowie, duh)…sigh
Zach Braff did what many fail so miserably at: writing music into his work: The Shins, specifically, in Garden State. The former Scrub’s star, and his admirable nod to good music are the reasons for this indie flick’s soft spot in my heart.
Anyways, a little off topic, now to the more recent. Sam and I have a friend named Joe, he likes The Shins, as much as I do, and he showed me their new single, Simple Song, and it’s video, last night.
one word: INCREDIBLE
I feel like, you just need to watch it, for me to try and describe it here, well, it would cheapen it’s merritt: I would do The Shins a great injustice.
The video is great, and shot by Emerson alumnus, the Daniels, whom if you have the time, you should watch some of their other stuff, I promise, you wont be disappointed.

BRAND SPANKING NEW ARCTIC MONKEYS! Entitled “R U Mine?”, their new single was released earlier this morning with an intro by none other than Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols on his radio show on KROQ. The video is a bit… well, weird, but either way the song is a pretty straight forward rock song that does what is says on the tin. Rock. Check it out
- The XX
“And I can draw the line on the first date,
i’ll let you cross it:
let you take every line I’ve got…
When the time gets late”
Really good music, for me, is like, well, liking a boy…alot. Thus, when I fall, I fall hard. The XX hold a special place in my heart.
Enter Coachella, 2010: me and my little brother, the sun setting, my brother, whom is an incredible human being, and the best concert buddy, lifting me onto his 6’2” build, so I could sit, at the stage’s level, and see the group’s whole set: like a VIP. Of course, they killed it then, and well, two years later, I’m still listening their self-titled album, on repeat. And if you’re wondering, yes, I do fall in love, with said album, all over again, every time.
It’s Thursday February 3rd and the coolest fucking song of the year is currently on repeat. Recorded for the launch of Jamie Hewlett designed Converse shoes, “DoYaThing” sees The Gorillaz, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem, and Andre 3000 of OutKast teaming up to create a foot thumping, organ filled, dancey number. Frankly, it just kicks all kinds of ass and is by far my favorite thing released this year. Seriously check it out now and download it from the link below. For free of course! And keep your eyes (and ears) open for a full 12 minute version of ‘DoYaThing. Most importantly just jam the fuck out to this song.
Oh, and the jamie Hewlett shoes are fucking sick.
a little outdated, considering, this group had already released their sophomore album, but, the drums, and their self-titled, debut lp is my newest obsession.
like m’s taste in music? wish you could read more? well, fear not, for pinky and her half kansas/half uk native friend (and fellow jew), sam, have finally started their own blog, for what else? but, music.

“it’s like you’re trying to get to heaven in a hurry
and the queue was shorter than you thought it would be
and the doorman says, “you need to get a wristband”
you’ve got to lift between the pitfalls
but you’re looking like you’re low on energy
did you get out and walk to ensure you’d miss the quicksand?”
it’s hard to get around the wind
